The Blackwell Guide to Recorded Country

Edited by Bob Allen, published by Blackwell in 1993. * equals LP only at the time. Many of these recordings are now available in other, and sometimes much better forms. List of contributors at the end of the listings. Obscure labels’ countries of origin (when non UK/US) are given after label, but this is only when considered helpful, eg: Bear Family is so well known to be German it’s not marked, but Mount Olive is not well known so it is. If a basic recording is a box set, buying it may mean you don’t need an essential one, ie: buying No 17 would mean you wouldn’t need No 7 (& No 18). Check before purchase!
